Fixed properly, not just stopped
- The cause, not just the drip.A dripping tap is usually a worn cartridge or seat — I fix what’s worn, not just what’s visible.
- Isolation valves as standard.Where they’re missing, I’ll suggest fitting them so future fixes don’t mean draining the system.
- Dry means checked.I run everything, check every joint twice, and leave the cupboard contents back where they were.
- Honest limits.Gas appliances, boilers and unvented cylinders are certified-engineer territory. I’ll say so immediately and can recommend one.

Plumbing questions
Can a handyman do plumbing legally in the UK?
Yes — general plumbing like taps, toilets, wastes and appliance installation doesn’t require certification. Gas work does (Gas Safe), which is why I don’t touch boilers or gas appliances and will refer you to a registered engineer.
How much does it cost to replace a tap?
From £60 with your tap supplied, including removing the old one. If the tap’s seized or access is tight I’ll tell you from the photo, not on the day.
Can you install my washing machine the same week?
Usually, yes — installs are quick jobs I slot between bigger ones. Old machine disconnected and moved to the kerb or your garage as part of it.
My toilet keeps running — big job?
Almost never. It’s usually a fill valve or flush seal, sorted within the £50 call-out plus the part.
Do you do emergency plumbing?
I’m not a 24/7 emergency service, but if water’s coming through a ceiling, call anyway — if I can’t come, I’ll talk you through isolating it and tell you who to ring.
