Rust and old paint absorb the beam; the parent steel reflects it — so the process stops at clean metal instead of eating into it like media does. Tolerances stay put, stamping marks and casting numbers re-emerge instead of blurring, and there’s nothing embedded to work loose later. Parts flash-rust quickly once bare, so I hand them back either oiled for storage or primed in your choice of etch or epoxy, ready for paint.

Is laser cleaning better than sandblasting car parts?
For components, usually: no media embedded in threads or galleries, no distortion risk on thin tinware, and detail like casting numbers survives. For whole shells, blasting’s scale still wins and I’ll say so — see the verdict box above.
How much does it cost to clean a part?
Single small parts from the £50 minimum; a whole box priced as one job, which is always the better value. Photo of the bench gets you a confirmed price.
Will it remove chrome or zinc plating?
Yes — plating comes off with the corrosion, which is right if the part’s being re-plated and wrong if you hoped to keep it. Tell me what finish you’re keeping and I’ll advise honestly.
Do parts rust again afterwards?
Bare steel flash-rusts within hours, so every part leaves either oiled for storage or primed ready for paint — your choice, included in the job.
Can I just drop parts off?
Yes — drop-off in Hounslow by arrangement, or I collect and return across West London. Turnaround is usually days, not the weeks a blasting queue takes.
